Spring Clean Your Life With Tarot

Spring is one of my favourite seasons of the year. I always feel there is so much potential and there is a sudden shift of energy. Spring, for me, represents growth and new possibilities.

It’s always the perfect time to get out in the garden and get everything in order for the upcoming seasons. I was inspired to create this spread as I was out in my garden surrounded by nature.

As well as spring cleaning our houses and de-cluttering/pruning our gardens, we can also have a spring clean of our lives.

The Gardener – Queen of Pentacles

I often think of the Queen of Pentacles as being one of the keenest gardeners in the deck. It’s time to channel your inner Queen of Pentacles and see what positive changes you can make to your life.

I’m calling this the Spring Clean tarot spread but, of course, this can be done at any time of the year.

I’ve used the garden analogy. The garden is very much a metaphor for life. Think about it, sometimes we need to dead-head or cull certain aspects of our life if we want to experience growth and movement.

Lay out your cards as follows:

Current Condition

This will give you an overall view of how things are at the moment. I always think that it’s good for us to check on in where we are before we make a plan to move forward.

Take note of the energy or this card. Does it feel stuck? Is there a yearning for growth? Is the person in the card looking backwards?

What Needs Culling/Pruning?

This is about figuring out what aspects of your life are no longer working for you. Perhaps you are in a destructive relationship or maybe you need to find more balance.

This is one of the most important cards in this spread. You really want to figure out what it is that you need to do to enable you to experience new growth.

Think of the analogy of the plant. Sometimes we need to dead-head before the plant will produce more flowers.

Challenging Conditions

You want to see what obstacles are in your way. Are you going to be facing too much rain or maybe a drought!

Once we know what obstacles are standing in our way we can start to address then and make changes. This card can go hand in hand with the ‘dead-heading’ card as they can often be connected and part of a bigger problem.

Maybe you are going to experience some financial issues. Perhaps you are going to be overwhelmed with work. Again, look at the energy of the card and see what you can take from it.

How To Care For Your Garden

This is very much a card about how you can overcome the obstacles. This is your action card and again it’s an important one is this spread.

You should be looking for clues as to the best course of action to take. You want to get some specific information from this card that will help you each your potential.

What Will The New Growth Look Like?

This is the potential card or potential outcome. We can see where we are headed with this card. Remember if you don’t like what you see then you still have the opportunity to do something about it.

In my opinion, every card has good and bad qualities. I would be looking for the good qualities in this card as it’s very much about potential. E.g. The Tower would actually be a great card as it’s all about making big changes to clear the way for new growth. I would also very much welcome the Death card is this position.
