Everybody Loves Disney! Right?
When it comes to tarot I get my inspiration from many different sources. You just have to keep your eyes open and know how to spot it. I absolutely loved Disney films when I was a kid, especially what I would say is the golden years with Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.
I only just realised how many amazing messages there are in these movies. It made me think that we could do a lot worse than letting our kids watch these films.
As always I like to view everything through a tarot lense. I started to think about how these messages would be represented in the tarot. Drawing on everyday inspiration and translating into tarot can really help build a deeper connection with the cards. You should give it a go.

All it takes is faith and trust. – Peter Pan, Peter Pan

The Star
I love this quote. In my readings I often tell people, if they truly want to manifest their dreams the first step is really simple…..just believe that it will happen. We have such power within and if we can just get out of our own way magical things can happen.
Ohana means family, family means nobody gets left behind. Or forgotten. – Lilo, Lilo and stitch

Mothers (Queens) The Wild Unknown
I’ve chosen the mother cards (queens) from The Wild Unknown for this one. This quote really brings up that feminine quality of nurturing and growing a family and let’s face it, nobody is going to get between a mother and her child.
The very things that hold you down are going to lift you up. – Timothy Mouse, Dumbo

5 of Pentacles
I’ve gone for the 5 of Pentacles. This card shows 2 people who are going through a tough time. However, I always feel that their story is going to have a happy ending as they are together, supporting each other and I feel that they are going to be stronger for having gone through that experience.
Venture outside your comfort zone. The rewards are worth it. – Rapunzel,Tangled

2 of Wands
This says 2 of Wands to me. The card is about somebody planning their next move but there is fear about taking that step. He has the whole world in his hand but is very comfortable in his castle looking out. It’s time to take the first steps on that great adventure of life.
You control your destiny — you don’t need magic to do it. And there are no magical shortcuts to solving your problems. – Merida, Brave

The Magician
I believe that we are all completely in control of our own destiny. Ironically I’ve chosen The Magician. For me The Magician is not about some other force manifesting something for you it’s about you realising that you have all the skills and power within to make you dreams come true.
Oh yes the past can hurt. But you can either run from it, or learn from it” – Rafiki, Lion King

9 of Wands
The character in the 9 of Wands looks like he has been to battle and he has some scars to show for it. He is looking to the past but holding his ground and not running from it. It’s important to acknowledge where you have come from but don’t let it hold power over you in the future.
When life gets you down do you wanna know what you’ve gotta do? Just keep swimming! – Dory, Finding Nemo

The Chariot
I love this! When I need to find motivation to keep moving I channel the power of The Chariot. There is such strength in this card and it’s a reminder that you may be pulled in different directions but the important thing is that you just keep moving.
You must not let anyone define your limits because of where you come from. Your only limit is your soul.” – Gusteau, Ratatouille

The Empress
The Empress is an interesting choice for this one. I just feel that The Empress is somebody who is completely comfortable in her own skin and living a truly authentic life. She definitely wouldn’t let anybody define her as she is so connected with her soul.
No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true.” – Cinderella, Cinderella
- 3 of Swords
- 9 of Cups
This is a bit of a 2 cards story. I’m going with the 3 of Swords which is all about heartache but I’m pairing this with the 9 of Cups, which is the wish card. The story is that yes you may face some disappointments and heartbreak during your journey but if you can remain hopeful you can learn from the experience and find a new and happier conclusion to your fairy tale.
The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.” – The Emperor, Mulan

The Tower
I’m going to go with The Tower. This card is considered one of the ‘scarier’ cards in the deck as it’s all about chaos and sudden change. However I see the beauty in this card as sometimes there has to be destruction to clear the way for new growth. Sometimes there has to be an ending to make the way for new beginnings.
To laugh at yourself is to love yourself. – Mickey Mouse, Mickey Mouse

The Sun
The Sun. There is a joyful and childlike energy to this card. When I think of Disney I think of The Sun as they have brought so much joy to people all over the world and definitely a shining light in many of our childhoods.
A little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference. – Eeyore, Winnie the Pooh

6 of Pentacles
This is well represented by the 6 of Pentacles. It’s all about giving back and being caring for those around you.
“Life’s not a spectator sport. If watchin’ is all you’re gonna do, then you’re gonna watch your life go by without ya.” Hunchback of Notre Dame

The Fool
This quote makes me think of The Fool. Just take the jump, spread your wings and you will fly. It takes guts to make that first step but you will not regret it.
A dream is a wish your heart makes. When you’re fast asleep – Cinderella.

The High Priestess
Dreams are often our subconscious trying to get in touch with us. The High Priestess is all about getting in touch with your intuition. The tarot is a great way to strengthen your intuition but paying attention to your dreams is another very good option.
Look inside yourself, Simba. You are more than what you have become. – Mufasa, The Lion King.

The Hermit
The Hermit is the great teacher within. Sometimes we just need to take a breath, stop and meditate. We need to allow that time and space so we can appreciate who we are and understand what we are capable of.
Even miracles take a little time. Fairy Godmother, Cinderella

7 of Pentacles
This brings up the 7 of Pentacles for me. Yes you have put the work in but you have to be patient. Stay positive and trust that things will work out if you just give it a little time.
Our fate lies within us. We only have to be brave enough to see it – Brave

Wheel of Fortune
The Wheel of Fortune is a card about destiny, the cycle of life and karma. Whilst I believe that we completely control our destiny I also believe that we all have a purpose or calling on the earth. It’s important for us to not only get in touch with what that calling is but to have the courage to accept it and make it happen.
Cheer up child. It’ll turn out alright in the end. You’ll see. Mrs Potts

The World
The World! What a lovely way to wrap things up. The World is about completeness and the end of a cycle. We go on a journey from The Fool right the way through to The World. There are plenty of highs and lows on that journey but it always turns out alright in the end.
I hope you enjoyed our little blending of the fabulous world of Disney with the tarot. Just remember that you should ‘always let your conscience be your guide’ Jiminy Cricket.
