May 2017 Tarotscope – What’s In Store?
If we are looking at numerology, May is a 5. In tarot the 5s quite often represent upheaval, sometimes conflict and often loss. I always see Fives as being half way through the chapter. Yes, there will be set backs but it’s not the end of the story. We have a chance to write our own ending. This experience will shape the outcome but it’s all part of our path. If we look at the major arcana cards, that would represent 5, we get The Hierophant and Temperance. I think there is a reminder in here that everything we go through it part of our divine plan and will, in fact, bring balance to our lives. We can’t appreciate good times unless we have some challenges.
Looking at the overview of the cards I have drawn this month I see that there are a lot of court cards (5 out of 12). There could be a lot of external influences this month or perhaps we are being forced to look at our own personalities and being asked to re-align with our soul’s purpose.
Now that I have thoroughly depressed and scared everybody I thought I would take a look at what’s happening in the planets this month. I’m very very new to astrology and trying to learn more so that I have rich information to share with you. If any of my lovely ‘tarot clan’ are great with astrology and would be interested in writing a brief overview of each month then please let me know as I would love to include your overview with my tarotscope (full credit will be given). Just drop me a line.
I’m pleased to tell you that Mercury will be coming out of retrograde on May 3rd. There may be a bit of a ‘hangover’ but we should see some improvement when it comes to communication. During a Mercury retrograde, you should avoid anything that involves contracts, communication or technology. Of course, I decided to launch my new website right in the middle of it! Throw caution to the wind I say! haha.

March 21 – April 19
Queen of Wands (reversed)
Last month we saw that somebody was trying to deceive you or perhaps you were trying to get ahead using unethical methods. Again I am seeing that this is not going to be the smoothest month for you. When the Queen of Wands is reversed we tend to see the less endearing sides of her personality. She can be a bit controlling and strong. She has the tendency to be manipulative and could even be described as a ‘mean girl’. This could be referring to you or it could be somebody that you are faced with this month. If you were wronged last month be careful not to hold resentment and remember that 2 wrongs don’t make a right. It’s time to re-evaluate what your values are and let your wonderful personality shine. If you are faced with a Queen of Wands just stay true to your own values and don’t let anybody lead you off the path you are travelling.
April 20 – May 20
King of Swords (reversed)
Last month you were fighting for a relationship. This month is a very different story. It looks like you have gone very much into your head space. You are taking the logical and practical approach. You have to be careful not to take things too far. It’s important to find a balance between logic, emotion and passion. There is potential that you could find yourself being very stubborn and not prepared to bend. All these traits could show up in another person that will have an impact on you this month and they don’t necessarily relate to you personally. In a relationship be sure to communicate and listen to the other person’s opinion and in your career don’t become the dictator.
May 21 – June 20
10 of Cups
Gemini – you have hit the jackpot this month! One of the happiest cards in the deck. You seem to have been on a bit of a roll but last month saw things stall for you. The great news is that you have reached the destination. This month could be full of joy and emotional fulfillment. It’s a great month to spend time with family and surround yourself with those that you love. Being a 10 it does mark the end of a chapter but it’s a very successful and joyful ending. Keep and eye on the prize this month and know that you have the opportunity to really achieve what you set your mind to. Towards the end of the month, it will be time for you to start thinking about where you go to from here. Since things are going so great, why not set some goals and figure out how you can build on the success that you already have. Check out www.tarotavenue.com/goals to get your goal setting workbook.
June 21 – July 22
You took a bit of a hit last month with Strength (reversed). You were struggling to find your inner warrior and potentially having issues with self-confidence. The great news is that The Star sees you going on a path of healing. You are slowly finding your strength and feeling more comfortable in your own skin. It’s as if you have worked out what your strengths are and you are suddenly not afraid to put it out there to the world. This is a great month for you to be around nature. You will find yourself inspired and maybe even energised by the natural elements. It’s also a good month to define what you want. You should wish upon that star and ask The Universe to deliver whatever you need right now.
July 23 – August 22
King of Cups
Last month saw us struggle and take on a lot of extra work. This month we have the lovely King of Cups. This card can represent a person that sees the best in others who is not afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve. It often comes up for me to represent a teacher or counsellor. Being a Leo myself this is quite apt for me this month as I am doing a lot of tarot teaching, which in turn helps others reach their full potential. This could be saying that you need to spend time with friends and you may be required as a support. Be open and willing to share your heart. It could be that you yourself need a little bit of help this month and talking to somebody will definitely help you. If you have been struggling you should reach out to a King of Cups type of personality as they will most definitely have your back.
August 23 – September 22
Last month you were off on a spiritual quest with the Knight of Cups. This looks like a very transformational time for you as you now have The Hermit. You are going to take what you discovered last month and go deeper. It’s almost as if this whole new world is being opened up to you and you want to take things to the next level. Maybe last month saw you discover something that touched your spiritual side such as yoga, meditation or tarot! This month will see you explore this further and perhaps find a mentor to guide you. I see The Hermit as a great teacher but he can also be about learning the lessons from within. Meditation is a great way for you to get in touch with your higher self so why not give it a try this month?
September 23 – October 22
Ok, Libra. We need to talk! You had the 4 of Swords (reversed) last month and my advice was that the time for rest, relaxation and planning was over. It was now time for action! I’m pleased to tell you that The Chariot is the card for action! Get ready to move because things are about to happen very quickly. It will be full steam ahead but the great news is that you are on a winning course! What’s important to remember is that you keep balance and focus on the end goal. There will be opposing forces trying to pull you in different directions but it’s up to you to stay in the driver’s seat, take control and reach the finish line. The Chariot is the card about being victorious so you definitely have the power to win. It’s going to take a little bit of belief, focus and drive to get you to where you need to be.
October 23 – November 21
The Empress (reversed)
You have been having a little bit of a struggle over the last few months. What’s frustrating is that there is potential for you to have a great life but things are just a bit off! We had The Star (reversed) last month and this month we have The Empress (reversed). These are both gorgeous, feminine and warm cards but the reversals say to me that we are not quite where we need to be. The Empress is a real Mother Earth type card. Maybe there are some issues relating to a mother or maybe you are a mother and you are struggling to cope at the moment. Be careful not to be too smothering and let others around you find their own feet. I think a lot of this is about getting comfortable with who you are. You need to get back on track. Perhaps you should try The High Priestess mediation to figure out what it is you need to do to help you find your groove again.
November 22 – December 21
Page of Cups
So last month saw you doing a lot of planning and you were taking things slow (Knight of Pentacles). It’s now time to have fun! I often see this card as a sign that we need to take some time out, rediscover our youth and be silly! The fish jumping out of the cup can represent your subconscious trying to get in touch so do pay attention to any signs or dreams that you have this month. Try to figure out what it is that you need to know. If you have your own tarot deck, simply ask the question “what is my subconscious trying to tell me?”. Do something you love this month and make sure that it fulfils you on a soul level. Open up your heart, have fun and don’t put too much pressure on yourself.
December 22 – January 19
Page of Swords
Last month you had the 10 of Pentacle, which was the successful ending of a chapter. This month it is definitely about new beginnings. In fact, the message is loud and clear that you need to forget about what has happened, make sweeping changes and be prepared to move on. Visualise swinging that massive sword and letting go of the past. You are in a position of power and have a renewed spring in your step. There is something quite youthful about this card and almost free. It’s like you are de-cluttering your life which is leading to a sense of freedom and lightness that you have not experienced in a while. Why not have a big cathartic clear out both spiritually and physically?
January 20 – February 18
8 of Swords
You have left your comfort zone but you don’t really know what your next move is. Lack of planning, fear or failure to see the big picture is leaving you feeling stuck in no man’s land. Negative thoughts are stopping you making your next move as you think that there is opposition and obstacles all around you. You just need to realise that you totally have the power to free yourself. Think how easily those swords can free you of the bonds so you can continue on your path. It seems that you have made recent changes, which is brave, but you have stalled. The great news is that there is a very clear path for you but you just need to be able to see it. Have faith in your own ability, have a look at the big picture and keep pushing forward. Don’t let anything hold you back as you have the power to reach your goal.
February 19 – March 20
The Moon (reversed)
The light of the moon can play tricks on our eyes. All of a sudden a shadow can make an obstacle appear much bigger than it actually is. Yes, you have a long journey ahead of you but don’t let a few of obstacles hold you back. The moon is very much linked with our intuition so let your intuition be your guide through the obstacles. Nothing is impossible and even though it may seem like it at some point you just have to go for it. This could be a time of great adventure but it’s not all going to be smooth sailing. Remember that the journey can be just as exciting as the destination. Embrace change and enjoy taking one step at a time along the path.
Have a great month. xox
